Cloth Diaper Donations

Calling all cloth diaperers!

Austin Baby has been gearing up to start our cloth diaper donations to Austin families. We can’t wait! We will be donating 1 diaper for every 10 that are purchased through the store!

In the meantime, we have been contacted by Austin’s Peggy Browning who will be traveling to Ecuador to take cloth diapers to a children’s orphanage. Her contacts originally committing to donate a large number of cloth diapers have backed out, so she has been left empty-handed. If you have any cloth diapers not being used in *any condition*, she is happy to give them a new home where they will be used and much appreciated.

She leaves tomorrow, Thursday 7/3, so everything must be collected by noon tomorrow. We will have a box sitting out to make drop-offs easy, and Peggy will be sure that all donated diapers get to Peggy and to the orphanage. Below is an excerpt of Peggy’s cause: (and we'll have more on our local cloth diaper drive soon!)

Cloth diapers needed right away!

Help! The Ark Children's Homes in Riobamba, Equador have 20 infant to toddler children who are in need of cloth diapers and plastic pants. This children's home is a group of homes who take in children whom parents, doctors, and society have given up on. Here's one story of fifty to sixty current children in these homes:

About ten months ago 3 year old Juanito arrived from the hospital almost dead. His face was a purplish-grey, he couldn't walk, couldn't eat and couldn't lift his hand to his mouth to feed himself. He was severely malnourished, with puffy feet and lower legs, and an enormous belly. The rest of him was skin and bones. He'd been in the hospital 4 months and they'd done all they knew to do.

This Children's Home took him in, began to pray, took him to their doctor, put him in a private hospital, and got Juanito the help he needed.

To make along story short, Juanito is alive today, has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, and is being reunited with his family.

This Children's Home take in the "throw away" children.

Your cloth diaper donations will help this Children’s Home care for these children. Thank you for your generosity!

Summer Finally here!

Hey there Austin Baby followers. Angela Here. Summer is finally here and I'm so happy because that means I graduated college! Let me tell you, having two kids and a business and going to school is nuts. There are lots of things going on here at Austin Baby. I am sure if you come in here regularly (you know who you are:-) you have seen some new faces. Michelle and Lea have joined us and they are great! Also we have an exclusive! Bum Genius has come out with a new One Size diaper that is made of organic cotton inside. I have completely converted and use nothing but. I love them. Kylie is almost two, and they are trim for her walking legs, and absorbent to keep up with her nights. They are only sold a few places in the US and we are one of them. So stop by and check them out.

We are getting really excited for the move. We are getting a much larger location on S. Lamar. Staying in the neighborhood but need more space. This means we will need more inventory. So all of you out there, if you want to see Austin Baby carry one of your favorite products shoot us an email and let us know.

We also just got an order of fuzzi bunz, hopefully, they have caught up on shipping and we will always have them in. However, if you think your going to need the next size up, jump on the ones we have now.

We also just got some really cute organic cotton summer dresses. They are really light and ready for Austin Heat.

We have lots of new stuff coming in every day so check it out. I also just wanted to say thanks again for all the love and support the Austin community has given us. And also for all the loyal people who drive from Waco and San Antonio to come down and see us. We love our parents.

Have a cool summer or at least try your best
Angela

Fuzzi Bunz are in!

Erin here! (And thanks for the kudos, Angela!)

We are so happy to be working with the many mom and pop businesses catering to natural parents.... from AP parents for AP parents! With the explosion of cloth diapering demand around the world, they are all working night and day to keep up with the growth. Thank you so much for being patient with them and with us while we all grow to meet the needs of such a larger crowd. We are just so excited to be a part of this movement with you!

That being said, Fuzzi Bunz are in! The pastels jumped on this shipment so we have lovely sage greens, baby blues, butter yellows, pinks, and whites. The brights should be in within a couple of weeks. Yeah for shelves full of colorful Fuzzi Bunz! Need a Bac-Out fix? We've got your cure! Lots of dozens arrived just last night. bumGenius 3.0 Ones Size are arriving weekly. We also have the ever-loved Motherease on their way!

As we receive new items or products that are backordered in large quantities, we will post here to the blog. We welcome you to check it out!

Today's saying, "Ommmmmm." Say it frequently! Hum it! Sing it! Live it!

We love you, Austin!

Erin (and of course your friendly mama friends at Austin Baby)

Time To Blog!!

Hello everyone, It is Angela here, one of the owners of the store. I have been asked so many times about how the store is going and how we are juggling all of the work along with the family so we decided it was time to blog about all the adventures here in Austin Baby's world.

First, wanted to tell everyone how well Erin did at the Big Austin event. We were one of the three finalist for a business plan competition. We were so excited about being recognized, and excited to able to put ourselves out there in the entrepreneur world and get to meet other people crazy like us to go it alone. Erin got up on stage in front of hundreds of people and answered some pretty bizarre but funny "Corporate America" questions. She let the audience know about our underground world of cloth diapering and baby wearing, and it was fun to get the feedback from the audience. We didn't win, however, it was such a great experience to be there and have that recognition. She really did a great job and wanted to give her some Kuddos.

Second, I wanted to talk about all the babies that have come into our lives here at the store lately. There are several new mothers that have been shopping here since they were one month pregnant, and now they are coming into the store with their babies. It is really rewarding to get to see the babies after being there for all the moms and dads while they are going through the trials of pregnancy and all the decisions they were making. We had an idea today that we need a bulletin board for the store, like at the doctors office with all the baby pics. Please send us your birth announcements so we can start a bulletin board. 505 West Mary St. Austin, TX, 78704.We care about our parents, and feel so privileged that they let us in their world. Thanks Austin..

Now for a little bit of business:
We have a new exciting product that we have been getting rave reviews about and ladies you need to try it out. Its called the divacup. It is a menstrual cup, and I have yet to try it, however, Carlene of Austin baby, swears by it and is completely converted. We like to share with you guys the new stuff we get in that is a must try. Also we just got the spring Zutano line in, and if you are like me who is a Zutano junkie you will adore these new spring styles. I also wanted to apologize to everyone who has been trying to get fuzzi bunz! They are extremely behind on their production, and we were not expecting such a delay and really hope that MOE can get it together and ship those babies out! However, we have just ordered some new lines of diapers that we have heard great things about so please venture out of the fuzzi bunz world and try some other great items out there.

Thanks for your time,
-Angela
